The human size of the university facilitates interdisciplinary research and valuable interactions between scientists from different disciplines.
Other public or private research laboratories are also established in the immediate vicinity, thus completing the research offer based at the University's sites (CRM, AMLR, PIMW, ISSEP, SIRRIS, CEWAC, CRA, etc.).
Gesval works closely with a development team from the University of Liège. This team, which is part of ULiège's Interface Entreprises, is responsible for identifying projects. It is composed of professionals with complementary skills forming a high-performance multidisciplinary team.
Gesval is then responsible for transferring university research to the economic sphere and for developing it while ensuring the intellectual protection of the discoveries (management of patents and licences).
Gesval works with specialized partners as regards intellectual property (PICARRE ASBL), and setting up and supporting projects (Cide-Socran), in collaboration with the Meusinvest group and with the seed capital of spin-offs (Spinventure S.A., a subsidiary of the Meusinvest group and Gesval).
New spin-offs can be supported during their first few years by specialized incubators such as WSL for space and engineering sciences or WBC for life sciences.
